    1. One of the greatest singers and musicians in rock history.Yes it's another "rock star" book. So it's loaded with drugs. For fans of his music, it's all about the music. You'd think a musician's story would be all about the music, too, right? But his book shows how drugs got in the way, and for him, it became all about the drugs.Truthfully one of the most talented musicians to come out of the hard rock scene of the 70's, but not really a metal guy at all. You cannot read this without gaining an a [...]

    2. If you know who Glenn Hughes is, you will not be disappointed in this autobiography. It's more of a chronicle of drug use than music . . . but it cleared many things up for me regarding his time in Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. A great read for fans of GH.

    3. As a 12-step memoir I give it 4 stars, but the ghost-writing is kind of toneless. I did read it in 2 sittings though.

    4. Original review posted at Layers of Thought2.5 stars actuallyQuick take:The story of Hughes’ rise to fame, descent into total drug addiction and eventual recovery.Description: Glen Hughes joined the English rock band Deep Purple when they were at their peak. He was a highly talented singer, songwriter and bassist and had previously spent six years in the band Trapeze, but as part of Deep Purple he immediately achieved worldwide fame. After two years Deep Purple split up and Hughes then went on [...]

    5. The writing itself was a bit all over the place but it was great to hear from one of the strongest rock vocalists. I didn't even know about Glenn Hughes' music until I first heard Black. Country Communion. What an amazing band. It's so good to hear new music from the classic rock genre. Glenn was a member of Deep Purple along with David. Coverdale of Whitesnake. Who knew? Not me for sure. Anyway, when Purple broke up, Glenn basically dropped off the radar for decades, in a drug fueled lifestyle, [...]

    6. Though I can't believe what Glenn subjected himself to for all those years, I am glad that he made it through to the other side.I found many parts of the book to be incredibly sad. The end result, however is a great story of how he lifted himself out of the pit of drug abuse. I really feel that this book would be a great read, not only for those looking for enlightenment in the concept of working in the music industry, but also for those looking for strength in getting out of a life of drug and [...]

    7. Brutally honest, with plenty of good anecdotes and stories. Could have done with more details and stories from the present days with Black Country Communion, though.

    8. As Rock autobiographies go, if you're read one, you're read almost all of them! The format starts with childhood stories of growing up, the inspiration to take up an instrument and the journey of starting a band. Then the timeline moves on to the vicissitudes of the ensuing success and the accompanying tales of love and lust, drugs and other debauchery leading to the darkest recesses of the subject under scrutiny; and ultimately his redemption. You would have thought that reading a Rock autobiogr [...]

    9. Interesting background to rock music. Sincere but insipid. Treated many people unforgivably badly, & writing a book doesn’t make it better. But interesting & a fine musician.

    10. He Is The Music!Glenn is a Rock God among men who has stood the test of time. reading about his ups and downs, shows, simply, the kind of man he is. His music has carried me through good and bad times in my life. His Bass playing, has inspired me to want to be better at my own playing. Really after all is said and done, and at the end of the day, this is a must read. The only down side is, there's no longer Black Country Communion, to rock our world's, we have, California Breed, to pick up where [...]

    11. This is one of the best books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I didn't know most of this about Glenn Hughes. The guy had it pretty bad as the flip side to his brilliant career. Bravo to him and his writing plebe Joel McIver for such an in-depth, great read.

    12. A true tale of recovery.Glenn went to the depths of hell and came out the other side to tell the tale, a true tale of recovery.

    13. Loved it. A great look at Glenn's life and career. Especially interesting are the stories about Glenn's time in Deep Purple.
